Happy MONDAY! TGIM!

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “If you want to go fast, go alone.  If you want to go far, go together.” ~
African Proverb

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: This past weekend I did a Spartan Super race with 5 other people.  If I wanted to go fast, I would have gone alone.  But races are way more fun when you do them with a group of people and you stick together as a team.  The Spartan Super race is 8 miles of trail running with about 25 obstacles that you have to go over to finish.  Some of the obstacles are easy like going over a wall or climbing up a cargo net.  Others were harder like some wet and slippery monkey bars.  It was a fun good time and I am glad that we were able to do it and finish together.  It rained off and on for most of the race and it was pretty humid.  We helped each other through some of the obstacles and that was really cool.  I felt like we bonded well and it was a meaningful experience.  I feel like having events like this in my life give my life more meaning.  And I am glad to have some friends willing to do the race with me.

AFFIRMATIONS OF THE DAY:

1) We empower each other toward greatness.
2) Our adventures are bringing us closer together.
3) We each have something to offer and share.

3 Gems

Happy MONDAY! TGIM!

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“To be precise, there are three gems for healthy life: sufficient workouts, healthy food, and enough sleep.”
– Girdhar Joshi

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Well today we are going back to the basics folks.  Every time something is off with me I can link it back to one of these gems.  If I am eating junk foods a lot, I can tell that makes me more moody.   If I am not getting my workouts in, well then I feel off too. And oh boy if I don’t have enough sleep, you can expect a little bit more grouchy and emotional Matt right there.

So as we go into this week, don’t let those good habits that you have built up this year so far go to waste.  Yes take time for family and friends and eat some good tasty and delicious food.  Yes, enjoy yourself.  But then on Monday, make sure you are working out, eating healthy and getting enough sleep.

You are worth it.
Your body and health are worth it.
You can do this.

AFFIRMATIONS OF THE DAY:

1) I am enough
2) I CHOOSE MY OWN PATH and WORTH.
3) I AM ALWAYS DOING MY BEST.

Self-care

Happy MONDAY! TGIM!

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
You can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of myself is important, not selfish and is actually a gift to my loved ones. Taking care of myself means I’ll have the energy and ability to love others better.  ~Shannon Long

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:  This morning I went for a nice, relaxing, 15 mile bike ride.  The weather was a bit cool.  My bike was nicely turned up.  My wife wished me a good time and it was an exhilarating ride. I enjoyed that time for myself.  I enjoyed that exercise.

I get up in the morning extra early before the family does and have some time for myself.

I exercise to help me feel better and as an act of self-love.

I used to kind of think this idea was selfish.  Take care of yourself first?  Why would I do that when I have so many other demands and other people who need my attention and love?  I have work to do and I have a family to care for and give attention to.  How could I possibly justify more time to myself?

Well, think about it.  You can’t pour from an empty cup.  If you don’t have anything left to give you, you really don’t have anything left to give.  I think especially as an introvert I need extra down time.  Extra time to myself to recharge.  I find that doing that daily fills my cup daily and hopefully I can find some extra time on the weekends to unwind a bit.

I want to show up at work and with my family with love.  I want to show up with energy.  I want to show up with my best self.  Now some days of the week that is not easy because you are tired or something causes your day to be off.  But for the most part, I try to do this.

What are some of your self-love practices?  Do you believe self-care is important?

On this Monday be thankful for blessings and take time for yourself.  It doesn’t have to be a lot of time.  Just enough to fill your cup.  Happy Monday!

AFFIRMATIONS OF THE DAY:

1)
I make time to nourish my mind, body & soul.
2) I value myself
3) I am worthy of love & fill myself up with love first.
