Well we made to week 12!
This is the last week of the City of Austin’s Lonestar Endomondo Class for Quarter 2.
Thanks for participating and for getting your movement in over the last 12 weeks!
Ya’ll are an amazing group of people!

I hope over the last 12 weeks you were encouraged.
I hope you were inspired.
I hope you were motivated.
I hope you had some fun.
I hope you were challenged.

Listen, I don’t get paid extra or at all to be a Captain of this group.
It is just a volunteer thing. I am coach Matt and I do this because I love it.
I do it because I am passionate about it.

I do this for free because I enjoy it, because I care about you and you getting your movement in each week and you being your most awesome and authentic and healthy self and I care about you moving your body!

The City of Austin PE program rocks! I can’t say enough good things about it! You guys rock!

You all are still amazing Lonestar Endomondo Champions. So remember:

“Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.”

Always go for it in your life.

We are in week 11 so we are almost to the end.

You all are an amazing group of people!  Keep on being awesome.  Keep on getting your exercise in.  Keep on doing things that make your day better and make you feel your healthiest and best.

With that in mind take a look at this thought of the day from Brian Johnson at optimize.me:

Continuing on our theme of feelings following behavior, let’s chat about some wisdom from Eric Greitens.

Eric is a fascinating guy. Rhodes Scholar-humanitarian turned Navy SEAL. He wrote a great book called Resilience which is a collection of letters he and another SEAL exchanged after his buddy went through some hard times.

One of the great ideas Eric shares in that book is today’s +1.

Eric tells his friend that most people base their behavior on how they feel which then drives their sense of self.

He tells us that’s totally backwards.

Rather than Feelings → Behavior → Identity in which our feelings drive the show we want to orient from a model where our strong sense of self drives the whole show.

Like this: Identity → Behavior → Feelings.

We have a clear sense of who we’re committed to being. That’s our “Identity.” THAT determines what we do. NOT how we feel.

So, maybe you’re committed to being a disciplined, committed creative artist or entrepreneur. Fantastic. ACT LIKE ONE. (Whether you feel like it or not.)

Or maybe you’re committed to being an exemplary husband or father (or wife or mother). Fantastic. ACT LIKE ONE. (Whether you feel like it or not.)

Or maybe you’re committed to being a world-class athlete. Fantastic. ACT LIKE ONE. (Whether you feel like it or not.)

Identity → Behavior → Feelings.

So…

Who are YOU committed to being?

In those micro-moments that determine your destiny today, ACT LIKE that best version of you!!

Affirmation of the day:  I’m going to drink water, eat fruit and vegetables, walk, take the stairs, exercise. Today I’m giving love to my body.

Today is a day full of amazing opportunities and choices.

There are a lot of great choices you can make today.

 

You can choose to wake up.

You can choose to go to work.

You can freely choose to put healthy foods into your body.

You can choose to drink half your body weight in ounces of water.

You can choose to get your steps in today.

You can choose to get your exercise in that will energize you to have a great day!
